Coal-Fired Power Station Challenge

RockTron offers coal-fired power stations a unique, affordable, environmentally-friendly way of recycling fresh and stockpiled fly ash waste. RockTron’s technology beneficiates 100% of fly ash, emptying existing stockpiles (of which there is an estimated 6 billion tonnes worldwide) and removing the need for future sites. Comprehensive site remediation can then take place, recovering large amounts of land. This is a viable long term solution for environmental remediation.
Case Study: TVA Disaster
In December 2008, the world witnessed a disastrous fly ash spillage at the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Kingston Fossil Plant, USA. A billion gallons of fly ash broke through containment walls and spilled over 300 acres. The ongoing environmental effects of this highlight the catastrophic impact that fly ash containments can have on the local environment, and RockTron’s technology is the only one that can help.
Power Station Site Remediation
The RockTron Process recycles fly ash into low carbon cementitious eco-minerals, offering power stations the opportunity to sell them on to the construction industry. RockTron estimates that for every 500,000 tonnes of RockTron cementitious products used to substitute CEM I cement, up to 450,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions can be saved.
