The site is accessed through Fiddler’s Ferry Power Station. Visitors should ensure that they have been booked in by the RockTron employee that they are visiting as no visitor will be allowed on site unless Fiddler’s Ferry SSE Security have been notified.
On arriving at site visitors should report to the main gatehouse directly in front of the main entrance to the Power Station from Widnes Road. Security will notify the RockTron employee who will arrange for the visitor to be collected. Clearance through security and the trip to the RockTron Site can take up to 20 minutes – please allow for this in planning your visit. If you are visiting site and not just the site office you will need PPE – boots, hi-vis jacket, safety glasses and safety helmet.
Directions to the RockTron Plant:
On turning into the main entrance to the Power Station from Widnes Road you should take the first left – please note the speed limit is 10mph. Follow this road until it takes a sharp right hand bend – 60m beyond this sharp bend turn left and immediately right. There are 2 signs at low level indicating the route to take. Follow this road until you reach the RockTron Security gate. If you are visiting site you will need PPE – boots, hi-vis jacket, safety glasses and safety helmet. If you are going beyond the RockTron site onto the Fiddler’s Ferry Power Station site you will need different instruction – please ask the person you are visiting to provide these. You will also require overalls and gloves to go to the Fiddler’s Ferry Power Station site.
Directions from M62:
Leave the motorway at Junction 7 and take the road signposted Widnes A568 – Watkinson Way (5th exit travelling from the west and 2nd exit travelling from the east). Travel along this road for approximately 3.4 miles to the first set of traffic lights. Turn left onto A562 Fiddler’s Ferry Road. Continue on the A562 for 0.3 miles to the first roundabout. At this roundabout take the 2nd exit remaining on the A562. Continue on A562 for 0.8 miles to the second roundabout and take the 3rd exit Dans Road remaining on the A562. Continue for a further 0.9 miles and turn right into the main entrance.
From M6 travelling from the North:
Exit the M6 at Junction 21A onto M62 and travel west signposted to Liverpool. Follow the direction above.

From M6 travelling from the South:
Exit the M6 at Junction 20 onto M56. Travel on the M56 and exit at Junction 12 signposted Runcorn. At the first roundabout take the 2nd exit A557 signposted Liverpool and Runcorn. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit following the A557 for the next 3.4 miles. Exit the A557 onto the A533 signposted Widnes and The Bridge. Follow the road onto the bridge and remain in the left hand lane. Immediately after you cross the bridge bear left onto the A568 signposted Widnes. Within 200m the road folks – keep to the right on the A568 signposted Widnes.
Follow this road to the second set of traffic light about 2 miles. After the first set of traffic lights get into right hand lane as you want to turn right at the second set of lights. Turn right onto A562 signposted Warrington (Fiddlers Ferry Road). At the first roundabout take the 2nd exit and at the second roundabout take the 3rd exit still on the A562 (now Dans Road). This road becomes Widnes Road and the Power Station entrance on the right after about 0.9 mile after the roundabout.
